I don't believe you need a real estate agent to sell a house anymore than you need a "higher power" as a guide on how to treat our fellow human beings. Actions speak louder than words and I have known darn few christians who actually live their faith. They are usually more willing to point out everyone elses shortcomings. If all that effort and funds were actually used to improve the human condition it wouldn't matter who or how you believe.

"Don't believe in God? You are not alone." is completely inoffensive. The message is simply "Hey atheists, other atheists exist." Anyone who objects to that, who is offended by the mere existence of atheists, is a religious bigot. There's no problem with the billboard, the problem is the complainers like Irving Faulkner and Ophelia Ortiz, who demonstrate the need for this billboard with their intolerance.

This billboard is fantastic. How would anyone have the guts to complain about a billboard advertising a community of nonbelievers, when there is blatant pro-Christian and pro-God materials everywhere you look? Every fiber of my body has been atheist for as long as I can remember, and I'm glad others like me are finally able to step up and proudly proclaim their beliefs (or nonbeliefs). There is a common misconception that all nonbelievers in America are somehow less than human, or less capable of loving, caring, giving, or being selfless. It's about time religious fanatics understand that nonbelievers don't need ancient manuscripts to teach them morality, humility and compassion.

I'm happy to see this sort of billboard in Arizona. Donating to the cause in hopes of more. Non believers must stop being forced to hide our feelings, logic, reason.

What difference is there between a Muslim who thinks Danish cartoonists should be killed, and Christian Americans who can't even tolerate an atheist billboard? The only difference is the willingness of the first group to use violence. The second group will use any means short of violence, including censorship, intimidation, coercion, and bigotry. Imagine claiming that the mere existence of other points of view is "offensive". How bigoted does your religion have to be for a person to automatically make such a claim when encountering atheism? Substitute "Jew" or "black", and see the Christian American intolerance for atheism for what it is. And atheists don't "don't believe in God". We don't believe in gods plural, lower case g. There is nothing special about the Jewish god that atheists single out for disbelief. Zeus, Thor, Allah, Yahweh - they're all equally disbelieved. FYI, the intolerance that Americans show in their religiosity is one of the reasons your country is so widely ridiculed by the rest of the advanced world, all of which is less religious, and therefore more socially advanced.

kalshnicovdude - 6/7/2009 "I am sad to hear you dont believe Taihbsear, you may change your mind later.I have done what I could to explain it.There is nothing more I can do.The choice is yours and thats the way it is.All I am saying is dont tread on me,my beliefs or my way of life." I am sad to read that your critical thought processes are corrupted by religion. I hope that some day they may be repaired and you will realize how wrong you have been. There is nothing more that can be said, here and now, to you that would help you mentally evolve into an Atheist. While you may be deserving of respect, no belief system that requires one to believe in something outside of reality (the Universe) is deserving of respect. I say tax all religions, like any other business is taxed, and take away any and all exemptions to any generally applicable laws. It is time that all businesses be equal under the law.

It seems like that every Christian on here has missed the point of what the Bible actually says if you believe it. You all are saying well "I believe that God is my savior and that you will all see someday." If you read what Jesus actually said He wants people to be loved and respected and cared for...the truth will reveal itself in time to everyone ya.... but that doesnt mean you just say well ive done my best. You go on loving that person, even if its an atheist, a christian, or a serial killer. God wants love and kindness, not arguing about who is saved and who isnt. That means nothing if you dont love each other. Regardless of what you believe or not, and I'm not shoving this down anyones throat, if anything I am pointing out that those "Christians" that posted so far, are 99% of the reason people hate the church.

Kalshnicovdude: please don't just refer to the 10 commandments to obey. Those are simple things that any normal thinking human would do. Did you read the bible at all? Will you lie on your side for 390 days and nights and one side and then 40 days on the other and eat stuff cooked over cow dung? Will you bring your rebellious son to the gates of your city and have the elders stone him to death? Or is the convenient part true and the inconvenient part metaphorical? If you want to obey the bible, do it. If you'll only take the things that are easy and normal, be like clear-thinking people: just human, not religious. It's very black and white: follow all words of your god's book, or stop calling yourself a christian. Your denomination is utterly irrelevant. Baptist, Luther, whatever: if you believe in the bible and your god, follow it to the letter.

After reading all the comments posted so far, I just have a few things to say regarding evolution. First, evolution is a *fact* (the theory of evolution is merely an explanation of that fact). Therefore, to say "I don't believe in evolution" is just like saying "I don't believe in gravity" or "I don't believe in atoms" or "I believe that the Earth is flat." It's preposterous to "believe" otherwise. Gravity, like evolution, just *is* and we can observe it operating. Second, not only did we evolve from monkeys, we *are* monkeys. This is because we are a species of ape and apes are old world monkeys. Third, species diverge from parent species, so it is not surprising that there are other species of monkeys out there. Even though you are a direct descendant of your grandparents, you likely still have cousins who are also direct descendants of the same grandparents. Just because there was a mass emigration from Europe to North America in the 19th and 20th centuries doesn't mean there aren't still Europeans in Europe (as well as descendants of Europeans who emigrated to Australia, Africa, and Asia too).

If the billboard said "If you believe in God, you are not alone." with the name of a local church, I'm sure there would be no controversy and no idiots would be saying "Wah! I find that in your face offensive".
