PHOENIX - At Esperanza Lutheran Church, volunteers are packing inside so they can help pack up and ship thousands of meals -- part of Arizona's 1st Million Meal Packing Event.

This weekend, three of the four participating Valley churches still need volunteers to pack 1 million meals for a program that's called "Feed My Starving Children."

Organizers say the 1 million meals are enough to feed more than 2,700 children for a year.

They are hoping more people will to step forward to help the thousands of volunteers  pack the life-saving meals.

They are also asking for monetary donations - they need $170,000 - to pay for production costs.

Here's how you can help:

Raise funds: $40 pays for the ingredients and $62 feeds a child for a year.

Organizers are also asking Valley residents to generate interest for volunteers at local churches, and organize a special missions offering to help fund the event.

Event locations:
Esperanza Lutheran Church (Phoenix – Ahwatukee)
Peace Lutheran Church (Peoria)
La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church (Scottsdale)
Love of Christ Lutheran Church (Mesa)

Registration is now open at www.fmsc.org/mobilepack/az
