Good job guys! Keep it going!

Can you say HOT button topic? Sheriff Joe loves sensationalism, and national spotlight; Great work guys! oofa.

Duh I'm stoopid. The operation was on TV, of course MCSO will be involved! :) I got an idea, let's go down to ASU and get a bunch of film students together and have them pretend they are shooting a reality show and follow Sheriff Joe and the MCSO around. While they are attention whoring for the cameras we can trick them into actually working. Great footage of stupid criminals in shock for being arrested finally, check. Getting something for the $200 million dollars for once, check. If we are lucky Sheriff Joe can get his first arrest after 13 years of being sheriff.

Seriously though how did the federal guys get the MCSO to actually work? Maybe we should do more operations like this that way we can see the MCSO actually arresting people instead of holding news conferences about the mayor and crying like school girls with skinned knees.

If you are going to be tough on crime like sheriff joe there is no room for restraint, due process, innocence until proven guilty or the law. We have to be tough on criminals and their enablers. Just like City Hawk said round em all up and sort thru till you find the bad ones, it is the new American way. The DOJ, Board of Supervisors, Congress, the police department, lawyers, and the ACLU need to let Sheriff Joe do his job. There is no other county in the nation that has to deal with illegal immigration like Sheriff Joe does. The fact that the crime rate in Maricopa county is the highest of all border regions in the country is a testament to how difficult his job has been for the past 13 years. It is so busy Sheriff Joe has never ever arrested a single person. Go getem Joe!

Sheriff Joe is taking the common sense approach and being punished for it. If you are brown you may or may not be an illegal immigrant. Just to be safe sheriff Joe and his posse pull over everyone that looks foreign and asks them for their papers. This isn't unreasonable and if you aren't an illegal you don't have anything to worry about! Sure this violates a couple of constitutional amendments but they didn't have illegal immigration back in 1700s. Besides like our president Bush said, the constitution is "just a god4amm piece of paper" anyway.

Seriously everyone back off of Sheriff Joe, he is the toughest sheriff in America and he is on tv all the time telling everyone so. If we could double his $200 million budget maybe he could create some more programs that draw attention to himself thereby being on tv twice as much. If he was on TV twice as much maybe then the criminals would think before they committed a crime and the Phoenix metro area wouldn't consistently be in the top 10 most dangerous cities in America.

could care less about churro venders, f**k them.

bobbobbyson - 7/9/2009 1:23 PM
On second thought I have really come to respect Sheriff Joe too. He is just doing his job and enforcing the laws that are on the books. The day labors and churro vendors are OUT OF CONTROL in this county. Sometime you have to blow thru your annual budget in 3 months to set up some tents and feed people rotten food, that stuff costs money! It's not like $200 million a year is enough to actually enforce the law and serve at least some of the 40000 felony warrants! Granted about $30 million a year goes to defend and settle lawsuits for civil rights violations and abuse of power but cinnamon churros and lawnmowers must be a priority!

Just to confirm what the article says, it's all about criminals. Whether your black, white, asian, or latino, citizen, immigrant or illegal immigrant. All law enforcement should be out there to catch all criminals commiting all crimes. So to see an agency focus on one particular race, in a particular neighborhood is questionable behavior by law enforcement. However, if the agency set up sweep at Home Depot/Lowes/ or corners where illegal immigrants are known to hang out, and pick up day jobs, that is a whole different ball game. If they do their research and take the time to really find out where these people are, then it becomes a fair situation. If you don't wanna be treated like an illegal immigrant then don't be around them.
