SAN CARLOS, AZ -- A man in San Carlos was sentenced to 25 years in prison for murdering a Phoenix man.

Melvin Pascal Nash, 23, was a member of the San Carlos Apache Indian Tribe.

On August 28, 2008 Nash apparently shot and killed a Phoenix man.

The victim had been temporarily in the area working as a security guard for a construction project and had no prior association with either of the defendants, Nash and Mason James Henry.

Nash reportedly pleaded guilty on August 4, 2009, to Second Degree Murder.

According to authorities, Nash was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years in federal prison by a U.S. District Judge.

Henry, the man who allegedly helped in the murder, was also charged with second degree murder.

On August 5, 2009, Henry pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder and is set for sentencing on December 22, 2009.
