Click the play button on the video window to the right to see the storyPHOENIX -– The Phoenix Police Department is investigating a shooting that sent two men to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Sunday night.
It happened at about 6:30 p.m. in the 900 block of West Ironwood Drive, near 7th and Peoria avenues.
Police said there were two men and one woman sitting in a car when four shots were fired by two men, only described as being Hispanic men between 20 and 30 years of age.
Witnesses told police one of them was wearing a red shirt and dark shorts.
Both suspects fled on foot before officers arrived.
Police set up a perimeter to search for the suspects for a few hours. They used K-9 units and searched in an apartment complex where they were told one of the suspects may have fled.
The two men who were shot were transported to John C. Lincoln Hospital, according to a Phoenix Fire Department dispatch operator.
"Neither of them have died from their injuries," said Phoenix Police Lt. Tina Gonzales. "One of them is in surgery, the other one is in the ICU right now. I believe that's the one we're more concerned about, due to their injuries."
The woman inside the car was not hurt. Police said they are questioning her about what happened.
Police have do not have a motive at this time for the shootings and no other details were made available Sunday night. No weapon has been found.
