1 arrested after man shot to death in front of fiancée

PHOENIX – Police have one in custody and are looking for two men in connection to an incident late Wednesday night where a man was shot to death in front of his fiancée in a Phoenix parking lot.

The fatal shooting occurred near 39th Avenue and Camelback Road a little before midnight.

Justin B. Spencer, 25, and his fiancée were reportedly visiting friends in the area when they got into a verbal dispute with the three suspects.

Spencer was shot multiple times inside his vehicle and police found him deceased on the scene. His fiancée escaped harm.

According to Officer Luis Samudio with the Phoenix Police Department, one of the suspects was identified as Gary Steven Oliver, 26, and taken into custody. The other two suspects have been identified by police but not yet found.

Police reportedly found Oliver after he had overdosed on crystal methamphetamine.

Oliver was transported to a hospital and police have not arrested or interviewed with him at this time due to his condition.

The motive for the shooting still remains unclear, according to police.
