Ahwatukee is working hard to host a 4th of July fireworks show this summer.

The past two years it was held at Rawhide.

The Chamber of Commerce said the community said it wanted to see fireworks back in their own community.

So the Chamber listened and decided it would have a fireworks performance at the Ahwatukee Golf Club.

Problem is, money is tight these days.

To make it happen, the Chamber needs people in the community to help.

They need to raise $20,000 by May 25th, or there will be no 4th of July fireworks show.

Chamber President Terri Kimble said so far they have raised about $5,000.

They are offering corporate sponsorships that range from $500 to $5,000.

They are also hoping people will be generous and are looking for $25 individual donations.

Everyone who donates will get a decorative decal to show the community how they supported the effort to bring fireworks to the 4th of July this summer in Ahwatukee.

Kimble said just about everything is excepted from cash to credit to Paypal.

Meantime, Rep. John McComish, who is the Arizona House Majority Leader, has donated four Diamondback suite tickets for the May 29 game against the Atlanta Braves, which will be given away as part of a silent, call-in auction.

Along with the food and beverage served in the suite, winners of the seats will have direct access to McComish and Kimble, who will be on hand and willing to discuss political and business issues during the game, which starts at 6:40 p.m. on the 29th.

To bid on the tickets, call the chamber office at 480-753-7676.  Bidding closes at noon, May 28.
