IT IS UNFORTUNATE TO HAVE SOMETHING SO SIGNIFICANT TO SO MANY PEOPLE JUST DISAPPREAR. HOWEVER, ONE ALSO HAS TO CONSIDER THE DANGERS INVOLVED. LIKE THE REPORT SAID, WHAT IF A CHILD OR GROUP OF CHILDEN ARE PLAYING IN THE TREE AND FOR SOME UNFORSEEN TURN OF EVENTS A LIGHT WIND PICKS UP, A BRANCH TOUCHES THAT ELECTRICAL LINE, CONDUCTS THE TREE AND TAKES THE LIFE OF THAT CHILD OR CHILDREN. WHAT THEN? WOULD THE REMOVAL AND SAFETY OF THAT TREE THEN BE WORTH THAT CHILD'S LIFE? GOOD FOR THE ELECTRIC COMPANY'S INVOLVED. A LIFE IS WORTH WAY MORE THAN A TREE. SORRY, BUT I WOULD HAVE TO SIDE WITH THE ELECTRIC COMPANY'S ON THIS ONE! KUDOS.

really??? This is news? It's a tree, I'm sure there are more of them in the area.. but whatever, I guess I just don't get it

Actually carls, SRP was looking out for you and the neighborhood with all the destructive weather and winds lately. Just look at the tree as being a danger to powerlines or falling on people or vehicles possibly causing injury or death. I am sad for losing a tree with such a longlife history, but in the interest of safety we sometimes have to take drastic steps.

Certainly they could have found a photographer who knows how to use a camera. A 5 year old with an instamtic could have done a better job.

Thank you ABC15 News for covering our Ahwatukee neighborhood story. That legendary tree will truly be missed. SRP should be ashamed of what they did!!!

This is news? There is much more going on in the world that deserves more attention than this.

Sure. Let's trim the tree. I wish it were that simple. -Who's going to pay to have someone come out and trim the tree 3x a year? -God Forbid,... if a branch breaks off during Monsoon and cuts power for a few days or weeks,... the whole neighborhood would be up in arms about that. Even worse,... if the branch fell on a passing motorist, jogger or Mother and stroller. OMG!!! Just cut the damn thing down already.
