LAKE MONTEZUMA, Ariz. -- A Northern Arizona woman who is accused of dumping used diapers has been charged with criminal littering, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.
Kimberly Liner, 43, admitted to a deputy that she had occasionally littered Lake Montezuma area roadways with bags of adult diapers over the past few months, according to Dwight D'Evelyn of the YCSO.
D'Evelyn said Liner lives with a disability and explained that she threw out the bags of diapers because the trash containers where she lives were always full.
She also claimed there were times it was difficult to walk to the dumpster and it was easier to toss the bags from her car while driving, D'Evelyn said.
Her hope was that public road crews would pick up the bags and dispose of them properly. She assured the deputy this practice would stop, said D'Evelyn.
When the deputy examined the home, areas of excessive trash were found in some of the rooms.
D'Evelyn said Liner, who lives alone, is attempting to clean up the mess.
Due to concern regarding Liner's living conditions, the deputy contacted Adult Protective Services for follow-up and intervention.
Liner signed a summons for a pending court date regarding a Criminal Littering charge.
