FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- Flagstaff tourism officials want to know how the area benefits financially when it snows.

The Flagstaff Convention & Visitors Bureau has partnered with the Flagstaff Nordic Center and Arizona Snowbowl to pay for a winter visitor study.

Acting visitors bureau director Heather Ainardi says the bureau wants to create a winter visitor profile that it can use to adjust its marketing plan for future campaigns.

Data collected over the next few months at multiple sites will be broken down into holiday, weekday, and weekend visits in order to better assess visitor trends.

The study will also gather information about the economic impact that winter visitors have in the high country.
