Killed in the crash was 66-year-old Michael Johnson of Phoenix and 44-year-old Tommy Johnson of Kountze, Texas, according to an official with the Coconino County Sheriff's Office.
Rockney Mark Herring of Texas was the pilot of the plane, according to authorities. He survived the crash and is now at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix.

Reportedly, the three men are related.
According to Lt. Rex Gilliland of the CCSO, Herring was able to tell investigators that the plane was having engine problems before it crashed on a hillside northeast of Sedona.
Witness Larry Alvey told ABC15, "All of a sudden hear a large clunk like the engine fill out, then there was an explosion."
Herring, 51, told investigators the three men flew out of a Buckeye-area airstrip at about 1 p.m. for a sight-seeing tour.
Reportedly, family members got a phone call from Herring at about 4:15 p.m. to say they were at the Sedona airport and were preparing to fly back to Phoenix.
The crash happened at about 4:45 p.m. in a heavily wooded area near Schnebly Hill Road, about eight miles east of Sedona, according to authorities
Herring was able to crawl out of the wreckage, but was badly burned by the fire following the crash, a CCSO spokesman said.
He was helped by an off duty New York Firefighter who was recreating in the area.
Herring was airlifted by a DPS Rescue helicopter to Flagstaff Medical Center.
Deputies said the crash started several small brush fires in the area.
An investigation is underway.
