SEDONA, AZ -- The publisher of two new books by motivational speaker James Ray says it will postpone publishing the works in the wake of three deaths in a sweat lodge ceremony in northern Arizona.
Hyperion Books announced Tuesday a paperback version of "Harmonic Wealth," and a new hardcover title "The Seven Laws of True Wealth," will both be released in late winter, instead of the original December release.
There was no reason given for the decision, but Ray faces increased scrutiny from authorities conducting a homicide investigation. He is also likely to face numerous lawsuits from victims and their families.
On Tuesday, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn, also called for a Federal Trade Commission Investigation to look at the circumstances surrounding the deaths. One of the victims was from Minnesota.
Ray was conducting a sweat lodge ceremony on October 8, when three people died and more than a dozen people were hurt.
Ray has said little about what happened, but some who attended the retreat said Ray told participants to stay in the lodge even after they exhibited signs of physical stress.
Ray has hired his own investigative team to look into the deaths, and continues to hold seminars.
