PRESCOTT, AZ -- An Arizona police department was awarded over $5,000 to help fund a new K-9 training course, according to a Friday report.

The Prescott Police Department was given a grant of $5,227 by the Yavapai County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Arizona Community Foundation, on September 24th.

The money will be used to purchase all of the materials needed to build a permanent obstacle course, which will be used in conjunction with other agencies to train K-9 patrol units.

The Prescott Police Department was also awarded $956 in K-9 unit emergency veterinarian care expenses for the K-9 "Deuce" who injured his teeth while participating in a training exercise.
