Well when I experienced it,I never felt any mean spirit.A simple matter of consequenses for for your actions.Almost universally understood by all children, special needs included,at least in my day as a child.Perhaps that is no longer a valid concept in this world.I would suggest to all of you to dig a little deeper into the true reasons for your disagreement with this.Perhaps that is part of the problem, and that as they say is that!

"Sometimes persisting in using something that is no longer view as popular or even positive isn't worth it," Kapp said What a moron! It has nothing to do with persistence! Special needs kids are not deliberately disruptive, it is how some of them are wired. A timeout is one thing, a seclusion room is mean-spirited and representative of the ignorance that Mr Kapp possesses. Shame on you!

Ok Momof2xASD,there it is."MY children arent perfect, but they behave a lot better than many of the so called "typical" children I have seen. What you just said confirms my assertion that you beleive your children are non typicly well behaved. In other words you have been blessed with "little angels" and so has the rest of the school district and all responsible for handling your kids while you are at work.Good luck to ya and check those prison regs, you are gonna need em.I am a proffesional lady,I have heard all of this before. So many times,I actually quit with the school bus driving partly because of it.Do you think I would advocate some kind of torture for any kid?Im not some kind of monster,I liked and got along with the kids better in many cases than I did with the administration.

So, if a child gets excited or disruptive, they belong in a room like this? But only if they are special needs, right? Because God knows typical children never misbehave. I thought this room was only for the most "violent special needs" children? What do they do with the violent typical children? I bet they don't stick them in this room. You must be related to that ridiculous superintendent, kashnicovdude. My children aren't perfect, but they behave a lot better than many of the so-called "typical" children I have seen. I would definitely be changing school districts or schools or filing a complaint if you worked within 100 yards of my child.

You sound like a real pro. There are other driving jobs beside school bus driver that put people into everyday contact with these types of individuals. And some of them require a special kind of person to handle these situations,I have been chosen by my peers and superiors as one of these on more than one occasion. So take your pompous ass complex back to school and get another degree or something,I dont care as long you shut up and learn something this time.

Actually, been around em a lot, dufus.Know of where you speak, before you speak it.

kalshnicovdude - adj., ignorant, clueless, having 0 knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, having no business being around children, especially developmentally disabled children, due to such ignorance. Best left an EX school bus driver. Thank you, Michael E Robinson. www.officeofautismadvocacy.com

Momof2xASD,as I said, done it been there. It wasnt that bad. When we saw the video, the place did not look like a dungeon. It was just a room where kids have to go for a while to calm down when they get riled up.I know,it doesnt happen to your kids right? They always act perfect and mindful and never would dream of getting excited and disruptive. After all when theyre with you,the act like perfect little angels.Keep yourself updated on prison visiting rules and regs lady.I think you may be happy you did some day.Passionately, from an ex school bus driver.

Momof2xASD - 5/29/2009 11:07 AM
I really hope you are not serious. They don't use it for typical developing "brats" and "problem" kids, they use it for developmentally disabled children! If this happened to my six-year-old, who is autistic and close to non-verbal, he wouldn't even be able to tell me! I cannot believe the lack of compassion and outrage for any child, typically developing or not.

Thanks cactiprick, thats what I try for,but I do also try to have a serious point that I believe in.
