PRESCOTT, AZ -- A former Prescott Valley woman has been sentenced to two years of supervised probation, 80 hours of community restitution and anger-management counseling for killing her 6-month-old cat.

Prosecutors say 21-year-old Laura Ann King also was ordered Monday to pay $215 to the Prescott Valley Police Department for the cost of the kitten's necroscopy.

Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Ralph M. Hess told King that she could face a two-year prison sentence if she violates any of the probation terms.

One of those terms is that King not own or have custody of another pet or domestic animal.

King -- who now lives in Maricopa County -- pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and disorderly conduct in August.

Her apartment neighbors called police on Feb. 7 to report a woman screaming and what sounded like a cat being thrown around.

When police arrived, they found the dead cat and King was arrested the next day.
