FLAGSTAFF, AZ – A search has been launched after two people failed to return from a hike in northern Arizona on Saturday night.
On Sunday, officials received a call around 2 a.m. from a Prescott woman who said two of her family members did not return.
The caller said 43-year-old Brooks Scheevers and 73-year-old Francis "Ed" Scheevers left their home in Prescott on Saturday around 1 p.m. to hike the area of Sycamore Canyon.
The woman said her husband called at approximately 4 p.m. to say they were leaving the vehicle and hiking into the canyon, but they did not return on Saturday evening as they had planned.
The Coconino County Sheriff's Office, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety Air Rescue Division and the Coconino County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Unit are all working on the search.
Air and ground searchers have not been able to locate the victims or their vehicle at this point.
The vehicle is described as a 2008 four-door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, with a black top and a silver body, and with Arizona License Plate ABP-0038.
Brooks Scheevers is 6 feet tall, approximately 170 pounds, and is balding.
Francis "Ed" Scheevers is 6 feet tall, between 150 and 160 pounds, and is balding with a beard and moustache.
