WILLIAMS, AZ -- Fire officials say crews are hard at work trying to contain a fire discovered at the Kaibab National Forest on Thursday afternoon.
Deirdre McLaughlin, Fire Information Officer for the Williams area, said the 'Rosilda Fire' was found burning near Williams at approximately 2 p.m.
A column of smoke was visible from Interstate 40, Williams and other nearby cities.
McLaughlin said a helicopter from the Grand Canyon National Park responded to the 'Rosilda Fire' and began making water drops with its bucket, which helped slow the progress.
According to officials, two fire engines and 20 fire personnel also responded to the fire.
McLaughlin said between the helicopter and the crews working on the ground, the fire has been contained at approximately 42 acres.
A 20-person fire crew from nearby Winslow was also sent to assist with controlling the fire.
Officials said the cause of the newly-discovered fire is under investigation.
