CORDES JUNCTION, AZ: A man has been booked into the Yavapai County Jail after Department of Public Safety officers say they found nearly $250,000 hidden in the spare tire of a car he was driving in Arizona.
According to a DPS news release, an officer stopped the Ohio man's 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer in Northern Arizona on Tuesday after noticing "several indicators of criminal activity."
The officer ordered a warrant for the vehicle and found several bundles of cash mounted inside the spare tire.
A total of $245,393 was recovered.
The driver, 62-year-old Wayne Mullins, was arrested and taken into custody.
He is facing money laundering charges.
