MOHAVE VALLEY, AZ – Detectives arrested a man on Thursday for allegedly murdering a woman over six years ago.

The body of Theresa Ann Davis, 45, was reportedly found near the border of Tribal land and Mohave County in a desert area off of Indian Lane in southern Mohave Valley on February 10, 2003.

An autopsy determined the woman died as a result of a stabbing.

During the on-going investigation, it was learned that 45-year-old Robert James Dyer, of Golden Shores, and Davis were acquaintances and that Dyer was the last person seen with Davis, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

DNA evidence was obtained from Dyer and around 9 a.m. on Thursday, detectives executed a search warrant at Dyer's residence near Pima Parkway and Maricopa Drive.

Dyer was taken into custody without incident.

Dyer was transported and booked into the Mohave County District II Substation.

Chief Deputy Jim McCabe stated, "We are happy to be able to close this homicide investigation.  Based on modern technology and science, we were able to continue working on this case by sending items collected at the scene to the state for DNA testing which resulted in a search warrant and probable cause for his arrest."
