Every time someone lights up, it means more money for early childhood develpment programs.

The Hualapai tribe will receive a check for $32,813 from the state Wednesday. The funds come from an 80 cent tax on cigarettes.

The Early Childhood Development Health Board was formed after proposition 203 passed in 1996.

It has allocated more than $125,000 to the region this year.

"The funds will be used to serve the children in the community," said Ashley Pascual, the Tribe's regional coordinator. "It will aid in teen professional development, family support services, and pre-natal care."

First Things First, along with the Hualapai Tribe Regional Partnership Council, is expected to present the check to the Hualapai Tribe at 1 p.m. in the Hualapai Tribal Council Chambers in Peach Springs.
