MAYER, AZ -- Officials say high winds fueled a brush fire that destroyed several buildings in a town north of the Valley Tuesday.

Sedona Fire Department spokesman Gary Johnson said several agencies worked to contain the fire in Mayer that reportedly started as a house fire. Mayer is along Highway 69 between Cordes Junction and Prescott.

Johnson said the house fire ignited brush and spread to nearby buildings and homes with the high winds.

At least four structures were burned, Johnson said.

Air15 video showed some of the buildings appeared to have burned to the ground. One home had a hole burned through the roof.

Firefighters called to the scene came from Mayer, Prescott, Sedona, Black Canyon City, Camp Verde and Central Yavapai County Fire.

There were no reports of injuries and no word on what caused the fire.
