COTTONWOOD, AZ – A Cottonwood man was arrested after detectives discovered cocaine hidden inside his garage, according to a Friday report.
Dwight D’Evelyn with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said detectives served a narcotics search warrant on a Cottonwood home on October 14.
Detectives had apparently developed information about cocaine sales from the home and contacted 49-year-old Francisco Rendon along with five others, including a 4-year-old and 8-month-old child.
Rendon reportedly told detectives he was holding some cocaine for a friend which he had stored in the garage.
D’Evelyn said detectives checked the garage work bench and found two baggies of cocaine, each over 1.5 grams, inside a spark plug box.
A further search revealed a spoon with white powder residue and clear plastic packaging baggies stored nearby, according to YCSO.
A K9 from the Cottonwood Police Department was brought in and immediately alerted on two vehicles. No drugs had been found inside the vehicles.
Detectives questioned Rendon further about additional supplies of cocaine and other illicit narcotics.
Rendon allegedly told detectives he had cocaine hidden in a car starter body stored with various auto parts inside his garage.
A detective reportedly dismantled the starter body and located a plastic bag containing over 88 grams of cocaine along with a digital scale. Rendon admitted selling cocaine to supplement his income, according to D’Evelyn.
Rendon was arrested and booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center for Possession of a Narcotic Drug for Sale and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
D’Evelyn said the investigation remained active beyond Rendon’s arrest, which is why details of the arrest were not released until Friday.
