PAGE, AZ -- Six people were hospitalized with burns after their houseboat exploded on Lake Powell in northern Arizona.
The National Park Service says in a news release that a 48-year-old man and an 8-year-old boy were taken by helicopter from the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area to a Las Vegas burn center.
Four victims were treated at a Page hospital.
The Park Service says the victims' conditions are unknown.
National Park Service rangers responding to emergency calls Friday afternoon found the houseboat engulfed in flames on the shoreline of Gunsight Butte.
Reports indicate the fire began when a line being used to siphon fuel between two containers leaked gasoline into the boat's engine compartment. The leak caused the explosion.
The fire remains under investigation.
