LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) -- More than three dozen divers pulled beer cans, plastic cups, shopping carts and a toilet from Lake Havasu's Bridgewater Channel during an annual cleanup.

Members of the Lake Havasu Divers Association spent part of Saturday underwater searching for trash while volunteers from Lake Havasu High School cleaned the aluminum cans brought to the surface so they could be recycled.

Organizers say the amount of trash pulled from the channel this year was about the same as what divers collected last year.

They added that Bud Light won the award for the most popular beer can found at the bottom of the channel this year.

The diving group received permits from Lake Havasu City and the U.S. Coast Guard for the event since diving in the channel is illegal.
