BULLHEAD CITY, AZ -- A fire inside an airfield hangar in the Mohave Valley south of Bullhead City has caused an estimated $1.5 million in damage.
Mohave Valley Fire Department Division Chief Robert Kemp said one single-engine plane was destroyed and three other planes sustained major damage at Eagle Airfield. Kemp described the fire as "suspicious."
Fire crews responded Thursday morning to a reported hay stack fires. Units arriving on the scene were advised that a hangar was also burning.
Kemp said the haystack fires and the hangar fire all appear connected.
The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were assisting with the investigation because the fire occurred on federal property.
