KINGMAN, AZ -- A Kingman man who says he was high on methamphetamine when he got into an argument with his wife has been sentenced to 18 years in prison in her death last year.

Dennis Schilinski pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last month in the Aug. 4, 2008, shooting death of his wife, 39-year-old Sandra Carol Bunn.

It was the maximum possible term the 37-year-old man could have received.

He originally was charged with first-degree murder and misconduct involving weapons.

Schilinski apologized in court to more than two dozen of Bunn's family members, saying he didn't mean to kill her and that her death was already a life sentence for him.
