KINGMAN, AZ – A 44-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly beating a woman and invading her home.
At about 12 a.m., Mohave County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence call relating to an incident at a home in the area of Van Nuys Road and Butler Avenue.
The neighbor who made the emergency call said that a 32-year-old woman was trying to escape from Jeffrey Scott Harris, who allegedly had been beating the victim and chased her into her home, according to a Mohave County Sheriff's Office press release.
During the incident, the victim retrieved a rifle and fired a shot into the ceiling of her home in an effort to convince Harris to leave her alone.
The neighbor said Harris made threats before he finally left the victim's home, according to the release.
Detectives contacted and questioned the victim about the attack. While they were at the victim's home, detectives witnessed the suspect's vehicle drive by, according to the release.
Deputies stopped Harris' vehicle in the area of Glen Road and Butler. The press release stated that while deputies were speaking with Harris, they detected an odor of alcohol on his breath.
Harris was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Mohave County Jail.
He faces felony charges of aggravated assault/domestic violence and burglary and criminal trespassing.
Harris submitted a blood sample that will be processed by the DPS Crime Lab for further analysis, according to the release.
