LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ -- A 36-year-old Italian man has been killed in a three-boat collision during an international jet ski race on Lake Havasu.
Scott Frazier, executive director of the International Jet Sports Boating Association, says Cesare Vismara was killed Friday. The victim's hometown was not provided.
Frazier says it was the first fatal at the event in nearly three decades.
The watercraft collided in front of the viewing stands on the beach.
Rescuers pulled Vismara from the water and paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Frazier says Vismara was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jet Ski Team Serbia president Veljko Sukalo says Vismara had raced with the team for three years and was due to receive his Serbian citizenship next week.
Racing was set to resume Saturday.
