BULLHEAD CITY, AZ -- A truck hauling cranberry juice bottles crashed Sunday morning on State Route 68 as it was approaching Bullhead City.
Local police said it was the sixth time an accident has involved semis in the vicinity of Highway 68 near the Bullhead City-Laughlin Bridge over the Colorado River.
Bullhead City Fire Department Spokesperson Greg Raymond said crews responded to a call on Highway 68 near Bullhead City around 7:45 a.m. Sunday.
According to officials, the semi tractor trailer was traveling westbound on Highway 68 when it somehow lost its brakes and crashed, spilling the entire load of Oceanspray Cranberry Juice it was carrying off the side of the highway.
The truck, driven by 67-year-old Gerardo Lopez of South Pasadena, Calif., ended up in a gully near Davis Camp.
A second passenger, identified as 68-year-old Alicia Haby, was injured in the crash.
Lopez told police his brakes failed and he was unable to use either of the two runaway truck ramps because other vehicles were in the way.
A Bullhead City police traffic officer said charges are pending.
Bullhead Fire officials estimate a loss of $175,000 in the accident.
