Good thing he wasn't turned over to the Arizona Humane Society in Phoenix or he would have been dead 5 minutes after he was left there. They murder animals left and right without bothering to find the owner.

PS I used to be petrified of Pits, like a lot of people. It's a long story, but I have now owned two and rescued 2 from the pound and found them good homes. When the first Pit my daughter drug home was petrified by our 10 lb Shitzu/poodle who could make him shake like a leaf and run for cover, I decided I had to reevaluate my attitude about Pits. They have been so abused by people it is criminal. I have never seen a dog so in need of his person and so willing to please. That is how these idiots get them to fight. It is hard to find one puppy out of an entire litter that is dog aggressive. Help to fight Pit Bull fighting and put these people away, please. Even some of Michael Vicks dogs have been rehomed with children and are doing great. One is a therapy dog. Prejudice comes in all guises. Please learn the facts and keep an open mind. Thanks.

I called the Yavapai Humane Society to see if I could make a donation to help Jake get home and learned that he was already there thanks to a donor in Ark. I decided to make a donation to the Yavapai Humane Society instead. Please, think about doing the same. To cactusjumper. In England Pit Bulls are know as the "nanny" dog as they are so good with children. Petey, for those of you old enough to remember Our Gang was a Pit Bull. Please, do not believe everything you read and hear. I have a Pit who won't even fight when he is attacked by another dog and is terrified of Chiquaquas. Also, at least 22 other breeds resemble a Pit. If you don't believe me, go to Best Friends web site and take the test and see if you can pick out the Pit. No matter the breed, the news media calls every dog a Pit if it attacks anyone. The problem is with the people, not the dog or the breed. Thanks for reading this and thinking. I appreciate it.

Mohave Animal Control did scan Jake. The owner was not able to afford the cost of transporting him back to Arkansas. The Yavapai Humane Society as a private shelter can raise the money to get him back with his owner and Mohave Animal Control cannot do that.

What a great story. And also to find out it was a TRULY domesticated pitbull. I know pitbulls can be friendly if they're raised right, but I still would NEVER leave a child alone with one.

AHHHH, could it be that MOST Animal Control (State, County City or Town) DO NOT HAVE MICROCHIP Scanners?....Come on bleeding heart liberals with money to burn buy them for all Animal Control Officers in your COUNTY!

That is very scary that Mohave Animal Control just throws this poor dog on the euthanasia list without scanning him??? I'm just glad to hear that he will be with is owner soon. Shame on you Mohave!!!

Scares me to think that the Mohave animal control did not scan him. people put chips in animals at their own expense because they love their dogs, and want to protect them. I guess they don't care about saving animals.

Why didn't Mohave County Animal Control check him for a chip? What's the purpose of the pet owner spending the money on a chip if animal control or the shelter doesn't look for it? What a shame it would have been if Mohave County Animal Control would have euthanized him!

Good story! Donate to your shelter. Public or private. Animals especially dogs enrich our lives.
