Arizona firefighter climbs high to help girl with leukemia

A Bullhead City firefighter, touched by the story of a 7-year-old girl with leukemia, is hoping to raise money for her treatment by running up 75 flights of stairs.

According to a news release, Mike Villagran is planning to wear his fire uniform and gear, including his air tank, when he participates in the Los Angeles YMCA 75-Floor Run in September.

The run will take place inside the US Bank Tower, and to get ready he has been training inside a Riverside Casino hotel tower.

Villagran plans to accept pledges on behalf of Lauren Terry in the following amounts:

10 cents a floor $7.50

25 cents a floor $18.75

50 cents a floor $37.50

$1.00 a floor $75.00

$2.00 a floor $150.00
