FLAGSTAFF, AZ – Flagstaff police arrested a man for allegedly waving a 10-inch butcher knife at officers on Wednesday night.
Police said they got a call of a man trespassing in the yard of a home in the 3400 block of North Wayman Street who was acting "strangely."
When police contacted the suspect, 37-year-old John Owen Bagwell, he was making stabbing motions in the air, like he was stabbing something, and yelling, officials say.
Bagwell also reportedly slashed and scratched the tailgate of a truck that was parked in the driveway of the home.
Officers ordered Bagwell to drop the weapon but he refused and ran into the backyard of the residence, according to authorities.
Once police found Bagwell at the back door of the home, they issued more orders and he refused to cooperate, officials say.
Officials said Bagwell was "tased" by an officer and he was taken into custody without further incident.
Bagwell is currently being held at Coconino County jail and is facing charges of aggravated assault against officers, disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon, trespassing, and criminal damage.
