Earlier this month, police arrested 29-year-old Trisha Proud, Troop 534 leader, after they say she withdrew more than $8,000 for personal use, according to Officer Dave Pubins, a spokesman for the Scottsdale Police Department.
Thursday morning, Pubins announced the arrest of 26-year old Perry Bush on theft and fraud scheme charges.
Volunteers involved with the troop noticed the missing funds back in March.
They contacted Chase Bank, but bank officials said they couldn't investigate because Proud was the sole signatory of the troop's account.
A troop meeting was held May 18 to discuss the missing money and to give Proud the opportunity to return it, but Proud didn't show. That's when parents contacted the Scottsdale Police Department.
Investigators allege Proud cashed checks using Girl Scout proceeds and gave the money to Bush.
Proud was the focus of an internal investigation by the Girl Scout- Arizona Cactus Pine Council, according to Robin Telle, communications manager.
"It's a really unfortunate circumstance that has taken place, and we are saddened for the troop," Telle said.
Following her arrest, Proud was suspended from her role with the Girl Scouts.
Proud had an additional outstanding warrant for her arrest, according to Scottsdale police.
The troop planned to use the money for a trip to Disneyland, according to a troop volunteer.
Bush is also wanted on theft and fraud cases in Phoenix and Glendale as well.
Bush is currently being held on two warrants from Alabama, his home state, for theft charges.
