With just three days to go until the big DTV conversion, senior citizens in Scottsdale now have a new place to turn to for help.

Volunteers from the Scottsdale Fire Department are available to help install the converter boxes.

"We'll probably get more calls after the 12th when they get snow (on their TV)," said Patty Jo Angelini with the Scottsdale Fire Department.

The volunteers normally check on senior citizens and install smoke detectors but they're now also trained to help with the DTV transition.

"This is important because monsoon season is coming up and people rely on their TVs for information," added Angelini.  "We want people to have working TVs so they can get emergency information."

The Scottsdale Fire Department does not supply the converter boxes, you'll need to buy your own.

To schedule a volunteer to come to your house to help install a DTV converter box, call 480-312-8000.

The DTV switch happens on Friday.
