Rates 'never been this low before' at Valley resorts

SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- A spokesperson for the Arizona Hotel and Lodging Association claims rates at Valley resorts this holiday season have never been so low and likely never will be again.

Rates are typically higher during the winter months because of the Valley's beautiful weather.

But this holiday season, you'll find prices usually reserved for the summer months.

For example, at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, rooms this Thanksgiving and Christmas start at just $129 a night, nearly a 50 percent drop over the usual rate.

The resort will even throw in a $50 Westcor gift card to Kierland Commons next door.

"That's what we'd like to do, pay for the first $50 of your holiday shopping this year," said Stephanie Dowling with the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa.

Some of the other specials being offered this holiday season include:

• The Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa has rates starting at $209 and include a $100 Macy's gift card.
• Stay one night at The Phoenician, get the second at half price.
• The Boulders Resort has rates from $219 which includes a $25 food credit and free access to The Golden Door Spa.
• Sanctuary Resort and Spa has rates from $299 November 22 - 29.
• Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson is offering rates from $209 plus 50 percent off a second room.

"The resorts are competing for your business, so look around and see what added incentives they offer for you to select them," said Kristen Jarnagin with the Arizona Hotel & Lodging Association.
