SCOTTSDALE, AZ – A family altercation in a Scottsdale neighborhood prompted the lock down of two schools Tuesday morning.

Scottsdale police said officers were called to the area of Holly and 74th streets after a 65-year-old male displayed a handgun after getting into an argument with his wife and 26-year-old son.

Both the wife and son left the home unharmed.

Officers attempted contact with the 65-year-old male in the home.

The suspect reportedly exited the residence after police deployed a sound diversionary device.

Police said that due to the proximity to schools in the area, both Sierra Vista Academy at 7501 E. Oak Street and Coronado High School at 7501 E. Virginia were placed on lockdown as a precaution.

That lockdown was later lifted and no injuries were reported.
