As
Nicole Larsen of Lost Our Home and Arizona Pet Nanny explained, “a lot of have been abandoned by their previous owners do to the economic situation and also from the e-list, the euthanasia list.”
Monique Benoist said, “due to the fact that there is not a lot of foster homes right now and the over abundance of dogs in general needing homes, there's been rescuers that have brought them here to save their lives".
“Here” is the backyard of a private home.
It’s become an unexpected last stop for more than 40 dogs who nearly lost their lives.
While walking through several dog pens Larsen points out one dog whose owners left him behind, another that was used as a bait dog for dogfights.
Given their difficult past, Katie Querns is on hand to help rehabilitate them for a future family.
“I'm a professional dog trainer and I come out to the ranch and work with these dogs, a lot of them need socialization with dogs ,with people.”
Querns said if you adopt a dog she’ll offer you a free lesson to include leash training.
She also said she will always be available to families in the future should they have any questions.
Querns said that’s because she wants to make sure that the dogs find, what she calls, a “forever home”.
You have to travel down a dirt road to make your way to The Ranch.
So Benoist came up with the idea of bringing the dogs to you.
They are in the process of making
profile videos of each dog and posting him or her on
YouTube.
“They don't have the ability to tell people they are here so it's our hope to let the world know they are here,” said Benoist.
Larsen explained how the intent of the videos is to also take them out of the kennel and show them in a home playing with toys so you can appreciate their behavior and affection.
The Ranch is a lucky place to end up for some of the Valley’s most unlucky dogs, but Larsen, Benoist, and Querns said nothing beats a home.
