SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- A salesman and customer out for a test drive were injured when their car ran out of gas and was struck by another vehicle.
According to Scottsdale Fire Capt. Dave Folio, the Volvo salesman and the customer were near 68th Street and McDowell Road when the vehicle ran out of gas and stopped.
The driver and salesman turned on the vehicle's flashers and were still inside the car when another driver rear-ended the Volvo.
"This is a rather high speed area right through here, so it sounds like somebody wasn't really paying attention and ran up on them and rear-ended them," Folio said.
One of the people in the vehicle received serious injuries while the other received minor injuries, according to Folio. Both were said to be in stable condition when they were transported to a Scottsdale hospital.
He says that the best plan in a situation like this is to turn on the vehicle's flashers and wait outside the vehicle in a safe location.
There is no word on whether the driver who rear-ended the stopped car faces charges.
