MCSO: Pilot killed in ultralight crash was from Scottsdale

The man killed after an ultralight aircraft crashed in the Tonto National Forest on Sunday night has been identified.
 
Scottsdale resident William Crosby, 43, was in the ultralight that crashed shortly before 7:30 p.m. near Forest Road and Rio Verde Drive in Rio Verde, in the McDowell Mountain Park area.
 
Crosby was the only person on the small aircraft, according to Douglas Matteson of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
 
The cause of the crash is under investigation and no other details have been released.
