FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ - Traffic in Fountain Hills’ Town Center area will have Cox Cable to thank for less pollution.
Cox had already planned to be trenching in this area a couple of months ago and agreed to place nearly 3,000 linear feet of traffic signal conduit in the ground at the same time.
"This was a true win-win," said Tom Ward, Public Works Director. "By combining our project with a private entity who was working in the area, we were able to see a huge savings and get a jump on the future installation."
The partnership saved nearly $28,000 in labor on this project, as the Town only paid for the conduit.
This means this downtown area of Fountain Hills will soon have expedited signals, which means fewer cars idling along Saguaro Boulevard from El Lago Blvd. to Palisades Blvd. and polluting the air.
Noise pollution will also be reduced through this upgrade, as cars can now stream by, as opposed to having more congestion.
Town staff will need to install wiring in these conduits prior to improved signal communication. No date has been scheduled for the work.
