ANTHEM, AZ -- A 60-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after being attacked by two pitbulls in an Anthem neighborhood, authorities said.

Phoenix Fire Department Spokesperson Troy Caskey said the woman was walking her dog near 43rd Avenue and Anthem Way Wednesday morning when the dogs attacked them.

According to neighbors, the dogs came from an abandoned house.

Caskey confirms that one neighbor, Hank Todero, heard the attack and used a golf club to hit the dogs.

Todero managed to get the victim and her dog, a chow, into a garage and then called 9-1-1.

Officials said the woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries and her dog was taken to an animal hospital.

The dogs that attacked the woman were seized by Maricopa County Animal Care & Control.
