"The City payments will not begin until the retail portion of the Project is completed with a minimum of 1.2 million square feet and open for business." phxazurbanite- I copied & pasted direct from the article. You missed that but you accused ABC15 of telling lies & half truths. ABC is a cheerleder for the obama administration, so I will agree with you about the lies & half truths, just not in this article.:-)

Actually Tucker this was a GREAT gamble. The city has a parking garage and hasn't paid a cent to the developer.

I have a feeling that this was decided LONG before the financial crisis surfaced. Peggy probably thought this was a good gamble, since the property is within the city limits, yet close enough to Scottsdale to draw on that crowd as well. It was a gamble, and unfortunately not a good one.

Another corporate welfare program - steal from the poor to feed the rich. Show your elected representatives how much you appreciate them NOT representing you - VOTE THEM ALL OUT OF OFFICE in the next election.

This smacks of yellow journalism when both sides of the story are not reported. That has become the ABC 15 way though. I think I'm done watching and will find another news station.

What wrong with corporate welfare. Its the American Way. The rich get richer and the poor...well they just get their 5 minutes of fame on Cops.

Imagine if your contributions went into a pool. No one would know where the money came from. I bet the first year you would see a huge drop, now that no one knows where the money train is. This is so simple, time for a ballot.

This is so sick, HEY we are gonna build a park place for a mall that isn't in use, so to hell with your HEALTH CARE, EDUCATION, and the less unfortunate. lets give it to the RICH!!!! LETS VOTE THEM TO JAIL!!!!

It is truly disgusting that our politicians have put a parking garage (or the money that came with the garage) so high on the list of priorities for the state. Never mind the massive budget cuts and the fact that they do not have the funds to support the budget as it stands. I am a state employee that took a pay cut due to the funding shortage and I have to admit that this story infuriated me!
