There are about a dozen websites selling spyware for cell phones.
They claim you can spy on a cheating spouse or keep track of your kids, but don't be fooled by their advertising.
“They know they have to advertise it in a fashion that is consistent with the law,” said Andrew Askland who specializes in privacy law at A.S.U.
“But they know it will be stranger on stranger and that is clearly illegal.”
The software allows you to read text messages and e-mails on a neatly organized private website.
It can also provide you with the GPS location of the target phone.
Another feature allows you to intercept phone calls and listen to recorded voicemails.
The most alarming feature is that it allows someone to turn on the microphone while the phone is not in use and listen in on private conversations.
