merrymarge, I spent months trying to get incorrect information off my report. I sent requests in to all three credit bureaus, but it took repeated requests. They say you can send in proof, yet when I did that, they would say that they never received the info or that the creditor needed to be contacted because they couldn't fix it. Then the creditor would say it wasn't their fault, it was the credit bureau(s). After much back and forth rather heated discussions with both entities, it appeared that most of the problems were fixed, I requested reports some 8 months later. Guess. Some of the erroneous info was back! Two bureaus would fix the problem, but the third wouldn't. Or, vice versa. I again sent in specific letters and copies of the problems. I finally gave up after nearly a year of back and forth communication, deciding it just wasn't worth the hassle because it was driving me crazy. I still have this 'invisible' 'recent revolving' debt on my report with one bureau yet it does not appear on the reports (only in the explanation provided with the score. It's been holding my score back for at least 5 years now and noone I talked to seemed to know what the debt is. So, if you think Experian corrected yours, request a report and score several months from now to see if it stayed corrected. Just a warning to stay vigilant.

Credit is SO important and the banks rely 100% on the agencies - who polices the agencies? What recourse do people have when they are damaged? Where is the justice. If they are given the POWER then take the responsibility with it. If you break a speed limit law you get a ticket. If the agencies make a serious mistake like they did to Kelli they should pay a serious fine. Watch the mistakes go away then!!!

I have not any problems reporting errors to the credit bureaus. I use their forms which are handy. The only concern that I have is Equifax and TransUnion only want you to report disputes. Experian allows you to add a statement to the inquiry. Experian allowed me to add statements about potential negative reports. After I submitted the statements, I received an e-mail back from Experian showing that there are now updates to the negative reports. I don't think I can do that with TransUnion and Equifax. And why do we still have to pay for our scores. These should be free with the credit reports. Our score fell because of the negative reports. These are not from any errors but mistakes that I made. (late payments). How long does it take to raise your score back up?

This just happened to me, The credit Bureaus made the mistake and put 6 bad collections on my credit report that were for someone else whose name is the same as mine except one letter in the last name. I feel they should look at your social security number before they add anything onto your report, I mean what do we have them for. It was their fault they should fix the problem. I should not have to deal with there mess. MS

Isn't this country great? A place where people are allowed to tarnish your reputation with false info with no recourse.
