The Better Business Bureau of Arizona says the increase of people in the job market is bringing out scam artists looking to take advantage of people in their time of need.

"BBBs across the United States are seeing, specifically, rebate processing job opportunities for work at home types of employment that are misleading consumers," said Thompson.

You might get the job posting in an email or find it on job hunting site. Felicia Thompson with the BBB says the job sounds tempting.

“They’re making it sound great they want you to fall in love with their job,” said Thompson.

But not only is the posting misleading you, the BBB says they’re taking your money.

“Asking them to pay up front fees just to learn more about the position or just to receive materials to start the process,” said Thompson.

The ads tell you that you can work from home, it’s easy and there’s no experience necessary, but these rebate processing jobs aren’t real.

If you come across a questionable job posting or offer, look at it carefully.
  • Check the wording for grammatical or spelling errors.
  • Check the company out on the BBB’s website.
  • Finally, if they ask for money or account information, steer clear.
