I have a voice mailbox with another # besides my cell # from another provider. Periodically, I call the voice mailbox and on average, 2 to 3 times a week there is a pre-recorded message there that I am unable to return or opt out of. The problem is that the pre-redording voice starts as soon as it's connected (while my short msg plays), I never hear who it's from or how to reach them if they don't leave a number. Some of these entities who call do say to press '2' if you don't want anymore calls, but you can't do that with a voice mailbox (it doesn't recognize it). Sometimes the voicemail provider gives an option to press '8' or '88' to return the call but invariably, I cannot because the caller does not have the same provider as me (Q....). When this happens, I try using another phone to retrieve the msgs but most times it's still a different provider. So, therefore, I am stuck with not knowing who keeps calling and not being able to tell them to stop. Yes, I am on the Nat'l 'Do Not Call List'. I tried shortening my greetiing but it didn't help- still cuts off company name. I tried contacting Q twice but they were not helpful as it's their policy that they cannot connect me with the entity that calls when it's a diff provider. (This was not the case a couple years ago). This number is my old home # and many people who contact me refer to that number as I don't like to give out my cell # but to just a few friends and family. I also would not be able to keep this # as a new in-house landline phone because I live in a different area of the valley. Anyone have suggestions besides changing my voice mailbox provider and/or changing the #?
