Print up online coupons and save hundreds. It sounds pretty good and many coupon websites like Coupons.com, CoolSavings.com and SmartSource.com offer some of the best when it comes to manufacturers coupons.

There are a lot of these sites out there, but before you jump in, here’s the skinny on what you can expect.

First, there aren’t as many coupons as you may think. According to Yahoo Finance, on many sites you’ll notice a lot of similar deals.

Some stores won’t take online coupons. It’s less of an issue these days but, if the clerk denies your coupon go to the store manager with the issue.

As with anything online there are privacy concerns. Some sites require you to put in personal information to register. They may use that information for marketing or telemarketing purposes. The only thing you should have to give to get coupons is your email address.

According to Yahoo Finance some online coupons have individual tracking numbers that trace back to you, the clicker.

To know you’re in good hands look for the seal from the BBBOnline.org. It means the site has met certain requirements for consumers.

Also, beware of downloading software in order to get the coupon. The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse says it’s important to know what you’re downloading before allowing it on your computer.
