ARIZONA CITY, AZ -- Residents of a town south of the Valley will not get street level delivery of their mail after all.

After a second balloting of Arizona City residents, the U.S. Postal Service will continue delivering mail to the area through free post office boxes.

The vote tallied Friday was 1,079 for keeping the current delivery method to 841 for street delivery.

In October 2008, the first vote of area residents came back in favor of residential delivery, 961 to 714.

At that time, USPS indicated it would take three to six months for the proposed change to occur.

"Headquarters' consumer advocate office decided another vote or survey was required," said USPS spokesperson Peter Hass.

"It looks like we are stuck with the P.O. Box system for a while," said Steve Duxbury, organizer of a group which petitioned the U.S. Postal Service for a change.
