Maybe if mom had been more interested in her daughter passing the test in the first place this would not be such a big issue. How well are the students prepared for college if they cant pass a remedial test. Incidentally, why should the daughter be "entitled" to go to a top tiered college when she cannot pass a basic knowledge science test. At least 1 or 2 years of science and math are needed in order to get a college degree. Its about time for parents to get involved with their childrens education before its too late.

I'm glad they fixed the "mistake", but just the simple fact that all these kids did so poorly on the science section says something. With so many jobs of the future being technology based, science should be stressed more in the schools, not swept under the rug.

Maybe I'm wrong, but from what I've seen, school kids don't have to test anymore because if they FAIL then it looks bad and it might hurt thier feelings. So regardless how STUPID your kid is, they don't have to look reality in the face, they get REWARDED anyway. Parents-teach your child TRUE history, math and science the way it should be taught. Your child should not be the teacher but the student. The socialistic values they are teaching now in public schools are intellectually, mentally, and politically dangerous.

Jimthedoorguy, well said, I agree completely. Schools are not just your local neighborhood babysitters. Education should be taken seriously by both parents and their children.

The wake up call needs to be to the parents of kids in school now to remind them how important their children's educations are and how lucky they are to have it available to them. It is not just the schools responsibility to make sure that these kids excel in school.
