YUMA, AZ -- Yuma residents who spoke at a rate hike hearing Tuesday made it clear they don't like the prospects of Arizona Public Service Co. raising their electric rates.
Members of the state Corporation Commission held a hearing to gauge what Yumans think about a proposed rate increase of 7.9 percent.
Yuman Darrell Bennett told commissioners the community is faced with high unemployment and foreclosures on homes and now is not a good time.
In its request for a 7.9 percent rate increase, APS officials say the company has made improvements to its infrastructure and expanded service and now it's trying to recoup the cost.
